This reminded me of a shit on Saturday Night Live, in the mid-1970s. A "pratfall" skit was being acted out but across the screen came the words "Many Americans are illiterate. Don't laugh at this skit because it isn't meant to be humorous; literate people can read this, but the non-literate cannot. That's the illiterate person in the room".

And, to no one's surprise (except mine), one man laughed hysterically. It was then that I was surprised at the number of illiterate high school graduates there are in America. To be fair, I grew up in the south and literacy wasn't a requirement for many of the jobs available- and, no, I don't mean that as an insult to the people of an entire region, although, the illiterate among us will never read this, anyway.
