This is a partial response but I'm sure more can be found. The "gender" argument doesn't mean much because genders are fluid and the terms used change with time.
But it isn't black and white, male, and female only.
God certainly cannot be of any "gender" but has historically, especially in Christianity, been depicted as male as a way to keep women "in their place", subservient to men. Yet, effeminate men were among the greatest heroes in the OT and women some of the greatest among positions considered "MALE": David-an effeminate young man who played music defeated Goliath, the 'man of men' and became King of Israel.
Jacob, the effeminate younger brother of the manly Esau, became a hero amongst the Hebrews.
Joseph, the one who wanted the 'coat of all colors' saved the manly men of his tribe.
Jesus accepted eunuchs who were born that way.
Gender fluidity is throughout the Old and New Testaments and history.
We were created in the image of the gods, plural, not the God, masculine. And the Elohim (plural for "god") were thought to be twelve, a sacred number- the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve Apostles of Jesus, the Trinity of Catholicism... All multiples of three, which is a number found throughout the structure of the universe.
I wish I could offer you more but at this moment I do not have time to do that research.
Pastor Dan may be a better person to ask.
God be with you on your journey.
