There’s always that chance that Mitch will be angered but that really wouldn’t make much difference, imho. He’s already made it abundantly clear he has no intention of working across the aisle, anyway. He’s refused to accept Joe as the next President or even President Elect. I don’t think Joe will have much of a “honeymoon” period that most Presidents normally get and you are clearly right that winning the 2 Georgia seats would make Mitch’s plans moot, anyway.
If he really wanted to anger Mitch, Kamala, as President, could simply name a Democrat as Senate leader and bypass old Mitch anyway. She does have that authority (that’s a Senate rule but not addressed in the Constitution) but I’m not sure if that would have to be done when the Senate is sworn in or could be done later, which would be far better- hold that threat of loss of power over Mitch’s head and he’d begin to uphold the Oath of Office he sears to when being sworn in- with the perfectly valid excuse that Mitch is blocking progress on legislation that doesn’t suit his vision for the Republican-led goal of making our nation an Autocracy rather than keeping it a Republic. Franklin warned of such men when the country was being founded, yet we got tRump and his minions, anyway.
I fully agree- let’s win Georgia’s seats and most of those issues go away.
