There are no truly reliable on-land temperature records that go back 170 years. Until recently, satellite data measured temps at sea level but all land is, by default, above sea level.

And the oceans can't be warming because it that were the case, the Artic ice would be melting and leaving open sea that ships could navigate without the use of "ice breaker" ships to first clear the way...

Oh.
