The word translated as 'carpenter' actually meant one who works in the trades. Jesus could've been a stone mason, unless there were far more forests in the Middle East at that time- and there weren't. Jesus may have worked in any trade, carpentry, though, being a stretch to believe. But it served the later Church well to make that claim. Oh, and that Jesus was white was another idea pushed upon the masses of white Europeans who happened to live in well-forested areas...
