The “roaring 20s” was the first decade in which consumer credit became widely available and women could have their husbands order them such things as sewing machines and other useful household items that a “good wife” needed. That is what “overheated” the economy and Hoover did nothing to improve conditions. The banks, money lenders, went all in on lending households money without modern tings such as credit ratings. As you say, there were many causes for the Great Depression and consumer debt was a big one in addition to those you mention.
