The "prosperity gospel" is a 1960s revised version of Calvinism, wherein people became wealthy because, based on their actions and thoughts, they deserved wealth, whereas the poor deserved to be poor because they aren't as good as others. Basically a "Think and Grow Rich" attitude designed to make money for the preacher of that "gospel" or author of the book. I believe Jesus would think otherwise.
