That still happens here, although considering it's Richmond, Virginia "Capitol of the Confederacy" it shouldn't be surprising. And I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I have (had) a great uncle on my father's side who was deeply involved in the local Klan chapter and was a minister at a county church. I didn't know that until my mother commented to my father that "___" burns crosses on Saturday night then preaches the Cross Sunday morning" and they explained it to me then. That was in the 1960s but in the 1980s, there was Klan march in a nearby town/small city and a black doll baby was dragged down the main boulevard with a noose around its neck. And it wasn't even mentioned in the local newspaper.

The hate is still alive.
