Thanks, Terry. I just read your profile story- impressive- but have been following you for a while based on comments you've made on other writer's stories. Obviously, I agreed with your thoughts. It's never occurred to me to write about my own life and upbringing although I did write about one portion of it and do have something in mind along those lines. Now, I may add something different, as well. Good luck with your recovery, I had a stroke at age 37 brought on by lifelong epilepsy and my balance has never been as good as it was before that and now, 23 year later I still use a cane but count myself lucky because I've seen so many stroke victims and know they've had it worse.
I did continue working and attending university in Virginia for another 6 years and for years after that I still hiked on "easy" and "moderate" trails in the Blue Ridge mountains and once took a short "difficult" hike down to see a waterfall from the base but coming back up was the difficult part. As soon as I'm able to travel again, I intend to attempt those things again- and hope I still can. I'm fortunate to have a life partner to help with everyday things, including driving me around- I stopped driving after Christmas day in 2017, not because I can't but because I was in a serious accident that I know I caused and have refused to drive since. I don't ever want to accidentally hurt anyone else. I let me license expire and sold my truck.
Keep up the good attitude and I think you'll do fine (not that I'm a doctor but attitude can make a huge difference in the long run). I'm fortunate that, like you, I didn't lose cognitive power, I just don't move as fast. LOL
