Thanks for sharing this, it's an interesting take on kindness misplaced. I understand everything you write about chivalry and agree. But holding a door for anyone should be a normal thing to do. 25 years ago, I had a grand mal seizure and stroke. When I went home from the hospital, I had a cast on my left foot that couldn't get wet- I put a plastic bag around it to shower. I went back to work, though. One afternoon, I went for a coffee at a shop just across the street. I was using a cane and the cast on my foot was clearly visible. A man entered the shop just ahead of me and let the door swing shut- on my casted foot. I couldn't believe how rude he treated me, but it turned out that everyone else was kind and made sure to hold doors open for me. Just as I've always done for others. Kindness isn't dead but sometimes lacking.

I believe kindness is something we should all practice; we never know when we'll need it from someone else.
