I base my belief that Jesus would never want to be worshipped on the story of when he rebuked a follower for calling him “good” using a word that applied to God’s goodness. Jesus said that there is only one who is “good” and that One is God. I can’t tell you where to find that exact story because I’m not good with remembering Chapter and Verse, but I am good at understanding meaning.
You’re probably aware of that interaction between Jesus and a follower. I do firmly believe Jesus wouldn’t want to be worshipped but if when worshipping Jesus, you see him as God, then you are, in fact, worshipping God by proxy. As long as one’s worship is to God then I don’t think it matters which name is since there is only one God. I look forward to reading what you’ve written as soon as I have the time.
