Stephen, you have no idea what I have or haven’t experienced and it’s quite arrogant of you to assume you do. I didn’t “loftily dismiss” anything, including evil. What I did was state what is true by any standards- if you don’t have the choice to commit an evil act then you also don’t have the choice to commit a good act. And that would mean that men are nothing more than unthinking creatures that “worship” a God, but not a single person would, or ever could, be “good” because they would not have the choice to commit an act of good rather than the far easier choice- commit an act of evil.

That’s a simplistic way to explain the necessity of the existence of evil or no person could ever be good, but if that’s what your “angels dancing on a pinhead” mind needs, then so be it.
