Sounds like the Hindu belief that the universe is another universe that followed the previous universe and preceded the following universe- a never ending cycle of birth, expansion, dying, death and then birth of a new universe- hence, eternity. Eternity, though, still isn't explained because by nature, eternity is just that- no beginning and no ending. A concept that can't be explained by science because it fits no understanding of the science of any universe.
