Regular clothes aren't worn in prison.

Whether it came from rappers, or prisoners who had no choice but adopt the look while behind bars because their belts were taken from them, the fashion statement has become linked to black teenagers more often than not.

Regular clothes aren't worn in prison. Not only is your belt taken from you but so are your shoes and all your clothing. In prison, you wear the thin, crappy shirt, pants and underwear you're given, plus a tiny tube of toothpaste.
