No, he didn't. Paul started the Church that is followed by 'Christians' today. Even Paul said that the first time Church followers- not followers of Jesus- were called "Christians", nearly 100 years after Jesus was put to death and Paul never even met Jesus and the Apostles didn't like Paul, at all.
