"meaning they're primarily symbology-driven"
Really? Tell me which branch of science relies on symbology rather than empirical evidence- repeatable experiments that give the same result. That can't be done with religion or religious beliefs.
I'm a firm believer in God. Just not the pagan "God" Christians worship out of ignorance because they believe that Jesus is worthy of worship, although he said himself that only God is worthy of such.
The "Church" was created by pagans and is based on pagan beliefs because that's what the Romaan emperor needed to maintain power and what the church need to maintain control over the illiterate masses who gave the church so much money.
You have every right to disagree with me because there is a (small) chance you're right in your church-derived beliefs and that the pagan "God" you worship through Jesus is the real God. After all. I'm only human and humans can err.
