I've been told I, sometimes, use too many commas- as many as 4 or more per sentence. I know exactly what the concern is, but I don't use a comma to connect two discrete sentences, a comma splice, I believe. I use multiple commas to write good complex sentences. I can do that well since I primarily write fiction.
