Is an old archery term which means 'to miss the mark' (bullseye) that was adopted by early Christians (medieval) to mean doing anything that, in their eyes, is "wrong". And many men of whom Jesus would've approved were driven out as heretics. That last part is merely my opinion, and I won't claim it to be factual.
