I'm not familiar with much of quantum mechanics so don't know what a 1/2 spin potential is. I do understand the single slit and double slit experiments in which some photons are tapped and others pass by. And the photon that is 'trapped' when striking the 'plate' becomes a particle rather than continuing as a 'wave' and in changing the state from wave to particle releases the energy (heat) of that photon while those that don't strike the plate continue as energy waves, as 'potential', which has the chance to become a particle which will then release its heat/energy in becoming that 'particle'.
