I'm glad to see you brought up the Hindu idea that the universe is not the only universe but that each is born from an infinitely small universe that has grown then shrunk only to birth another universe and thus is eternal; just not the same as the previous one or the one to come next. And if the idea of kalpas (a certain number of years is in each kalpa and a certain number of kalpas in each universe's "time") is correct, we're fast approaching the point when this (our) universe will collapse and a new one will begin.
