I use that phrase to describe myself- and I don't attend any church, either. During my lifetime of reading and studying the Bible, in its multiple forms, as well as formal study at university, I've come to believe that Jesus came to show us the "way" to find God, not that he said HE would save us from our sins. His earliest followers, including the Apostles, apparently never made that claim. It was added by the early church as a way to control their congregants. Control brings power and high positions in governing, and power brings money. I sincerely believe Jesus never had golden temples in mind when he taught the poor that we ALL have God in our hearts, and it is up to each of us to accept what God has already given us. So, I try daily to live the way I believe Jesus would approve of me doing.
