I think they didn't like the idea of reincarnation because they wanted Church congregants to believe that ONLY Jesus resurrected (reincarnated) and they would burn in Hell ( not even a Biblical concept) unless they tithed to the Church. Jesus made it clear that Priests, etc., were getting in the way of people knowing God. And what good are people to the church if each person finds God without the need of a church building (and lots of money)?
