I find that a reasonable thing to say. What followed, though, is perhaps born of stupidity, or arrogance, or ignorance. The person clearly buys into the "American Exceptionalism" idiocy that many of us were taught in school. Fortunately, most people, though not all (say, 33%+/-?), grow up and see that claim for what it is, a lie.
