I could not have said it better. Bizarre and some scenes go on too long but overall, a stunning, thought-provoking work which I intend to watch again. And I rarely watch a film or read a novel more than one time. I like most of Dean's stories, but I think he dropped the ball on this- dismissing a film based on the first 20 minutes is not a review but an unmerited attack on something not immediately understandable. Formulaic stories are easy to understand but also boring and don't challenge the mind to think or question. Those are the films and novels I avoid but I don't attack them in public, either. To each his own and I, for one, enjoy not knowing the entire story in the first few chapters of a novel or first 20 to 30 minutes of a film.

Even after watching that entire film, it still took days before I realized just how well it was done.

Sometimes, it is the good things that take time to appreciate while simplistic story lines are a waste of valuable time.
