I agree with what you say about US Imperialism, it's long been a problem. I disagree that we could safely just withdraw the military from around the world and all things will be better. Most overseas troops are there for the protection of the US, not to impose our will upon the host nations. Far too much is being spent on the military but the place to make cuts isn't in the overseas bases, there are certainly many, many cuts that could be made in its outrageous budget. Would you rather give Europe to Putin than station troops there? That's long been a Russian goal and tRump has already ceded Syria and it's port on the Atlantic to Putin and the Asian part of the world, and its enormous trade, to China. Interestingly, China isn't all out praising Biden and Russia fears him. Should we just hand over the rest of Europe to Russia and the Middle East and Asian nations to China?
As for Janet Yellen, were you aware at the time you wrote this that she has been, and is, pushing the Treasury to allow more emergency aid to help us survive economically the pandemic? Interest rates are so low that is stupid to not borrow now, despite increasing the deficit.
How is that not liberal. But the Treasury is currently under tRump's control.
Have you even read Biden's proposals? They are the most "liberal and progressive" as any ever contemplated. Of course many won't be passed as they stand now but isn't half a loaf better than nothing at all?
And isn't a political environment wherein true progress can be made better than just going back to the old "normal"?
I firmly believe Biden should present his list of appointees to Mitch and then appoint more liberal people as "acting" directors. That's what tRump specialized in and it worked for him.
