Geral Ford, in his brief term as President, ordered that no oil or refined oil products produced in this country could be sold overseas. That stayed in effect until Reagan ended it. I'm all for free enterprise and businesses making as much money as they can but with something as crucial to our daily existence as oil, what is produced here should stay here. Nothing must be "nationalized". Give oil companies a date when the made here/stay here policy will begin and the big companies might use beginning it before required as good PR. We export 30% of the oil produced and refined here, then buy 30% on the global market. That seems a moronic policy. With us no longer buying on the global market, we won't be at the whim of Russians, the Saudis, or any oil foreign producer.
