But what they aren't taught is that Jesus said we are all sons of the Light, i.e. sons of God.

The church fathers started pushing the doctrine that Jesus was the one and only son of God, largely because doing that gave them power over the largely illiterate masses. Oh, and money, too. And Jesus himself never claimed to be the 'King of the Jews'. The closest he came to saying that was when, while being questioned in a Roman Court, was "You say that I am". He also once said to his Apostles, have you not you read in the scriptures that God said "ye are gods"?

I'm sure this reply will bother, perhaps anger, some who call themselves Christians but those people have clearly not closely read the New Testament and the words of Paul, where he said being born again (in Spirit) is a good and real thing, but that simply makes one a babe in Spirit and just as being born into the flesh, a baby must grow in Spirit because no newborn knows what is needed to know become an adult and must grow to understand those things. In the flesh or in the Spirit, we're simply newborns, babies who must grow.
