Avi, I completely agree that Bernie has had a tremendous influence on our nation and that’s a good thing.
However, using Ralph Nadar as a comparison completely ignores Nadar convincing so many people that there wasn’t a nickel’s worth of difference between the Democratic and Republican Parties, which clearly isn’t true. Thanks to Nadar we ended up with W Bush and the Iraq war, among others and the economic crash of 2008. So, why should Nadar be feted for bringing us war, desolation and economic suffering? He should be remembered for being a direct cause of those things.
“He is of a bygone era, relying exclusively on small individual donations from ordinary citizens.”
Those small donations didn’t cover the cost of his chartered jet travel around the nation to campaign.

Thanks to fake “supporters” of Bernie, we now have Trump and we see how that’s turned out to date. Yes, he eventually endorsed Hillary but not until after the Convention and by that time many of his hardcore followers had decided it was Bernie or Trump. Those “followers” of Bernie were fringe radicals, not true followers of Bernie’s ideals.
The same sort of “purists” radicals who crashed the Democratic Convention in 1968 and guaranteed a Nixon win.
“So, a shadow has momentarily fallen on the hopes and dreams of a generation, but Bernie Sanders hasn’t given up. Nor should we, in the struggle for a more just world where poverty is defeated, diseases are eradicated, and the planet is rescued.”
Agree, but a great many younger people really don’t care about Bernie the leader and his policies but are the same purist fringe radicals who claim to follow Bernie but in reality are simply more “purists” out to destroy the slow but steady progress made by the Democratic Party while working against the Democratic Party. Many claim to be “progressive” while being, in reality, “regressive”. I don’t fault Bernie for those people, they’ve just latched onto his name and honest followers but are nothing more than trouble makers hiding behind his banner and doing their best to turn Bernie’s followers against other Democratic, progressive voters.
Progress is progress. It’s as simple as that. Bernie has helped show the way and it’s up to all of us to keep the radicals from giving us another Trump term.
I only hope we can succeed this year while we’ve always failed to stop the radicals in the past.
Bernie has publicly endorsed Joe Biden and those who honestly care about the sort of future Bernie lays out will vote for Biden, unless they, too, are simply radical trouble-makers, which begs the question- are they knowingly working for the fake Republicans in Washington now and for Putin, or are they just plain stupid?
Again, I do not hold Bernie at fault nor his honest followers, just the radicals who hide behind his name and whom I believe he should publicly disown on national television and at every chance he gets.
