And never did. Creek (Cherokee) natives didn't walk freely through Navaho territory-- hence the "territory". No one wandered through Incan territory/cities. territory or Mayan territory. Many horrible things were done by white colonizers to indigenous peoples on these "American" continents and none of it was right but to claim peoples that have been here for many tens of thousands of years didn't fight over their territories is misleading.
