And keep up the good fight! Not enough people do. I have a sister who has been a teacher for more than thirty years. Her specialty is in working with young children from troubled homes who themselves are having problems related to their home life.
She could’ve retired several years ago but was worried what would become of her students. Her health has been getting worse for several years but she has finally decided to retire at the end of this school year. She’s still concerned about those young children because she rarely sees another teacher who is willing to handle the “hard” cases and worries they’ll lose out after she leaves. Which I’m sure many will.
She has her Masters and half-completed a doctorate program but when the school system informed her that when she completed those studies they would move her into administration with a much higher salary so she simply didn’t complete her studies because she wanted to be there for the children. But at least she’s did all she possibly could for as long as she could.
The educational system needs to be improved and it’s good to know someone such as you are working toward that goal. Good luck and I hope you have a measure of success, for all of our sake. Especially for the children who are, to use a cliché, “our future”.
